THE CONTEST: We all live in a Pokémon World!
ABOUT THE ROUNDS: 
Given the votes, the tournament will have multiple rounds. Depending on the number of entrants, there will be anywhere between three or more rounds. > If MORE people that join, the LESS work you'll have to do! (After all, that gives me MORE things to do.)
There are several themes given. With the exception of the required first and last themes, you can choose any of the listed themes for your entry rounds. Please state in your Artist's Comment what theme you are using and what round number you are submitting for. This means that you will not be restricted by the current theme.
You may also post WIPs, but any WIPs submitted to the contest when the deadline passes may count against you, depending on the number of WIPs to the number of finished pieces. (IE—one finished piece and four WIPS v. 3 finished, polished pieces, 1 WIP, 1 MIA) The more pieces you finish to the best of your ability, the better your chances of winning!
There may be submission deadlines (ie- submit piece #2 by xx/xx, piece #3 by yy/yy, etc), or there may be a single deadline. Again, this depends on the number of people joining. If more people join, I will have several deadlines for each round. If less than ten people join, I will have a culmative deadline. (This means that all the rounds will be due by x date)
CURRENTLY THERE ARE TWO DEADLINES. One deadline is for the first entry, and the second is for the rest.
Each piece will be judged according to its medium, which takes into account its limitations and potential.
The rounds are NOT elimination style!
Everything will be judged holistically—meaning that ALL of the pieces will be looked at!
You can submit entries for any round early, but you cannot submit any round's entry late!
WHAT YOU WILL BE JUDGED ON…-Promptness. If you turn it in late/past the deadline given, you will be marked down.
-Quality of work compared to other works in your gallery (this is to make the playing field as fair as possible)
-Cleanness/visibility** (Is it too hard to see what's going on in the picture? Is it too busy or too small?)
-Does the piece fit the theme used?
-Consistency in style
-Does it contain all required items?
-Creativity/Originality. (How unique is your piece?)
** literary options will be not be judged on this
Literature and comics will be judged on the above, but also:
-basic writing conventions (grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. You will not be marked down for not using certain text characters). This is not to say that your entry will be torn to pieces, but if the basic rules of writing seem to be missing, it will count against you
-overall storytelling (are there any inconsistencies? Is it organized in a way that makes sense or provides a certain effect?)
-content (does it fit any plausible Pokémon canon without asking too much of its readers?)
Currently I do not have a scoring system in place, but I hope to have one in place before the final deadline to help make my job easier.
WHAT DO I WIN?-Your own blood, guts, sweat and glory. There are currently no prizes for this contest! It's all for fun, and I hope that maybe you will earn more experience in whatever artform that pleases you! (However, if anyone wishes to supply a prize for this contest, then please feel free to submit one!)
THE FIRST ROUND
Welcome to the world of Pokémon!
Alright, so all of you that still aspire to enter this contest after reading the rules ( fav.me/d4qhwo0 ), here's something rather easy and basic! Introduce your character!
Tell us a little bit of their history (the tl;dr version, please!), such their personality, how many Pokémon they've caught, what they're currently up to in their journey at this point, what made them decide to be a trainer (and if that vision has changed, how), and anything else that you feel is important in the artist's comment. If you desire to give a more detailed background of your character, you may link to another deviation, but please keep it short for this contest. It's more important to give a sense of how your character currently is than how they were.
-You MUST make "a trainer's card". This can be a separate deviation, if need be. It is recommended that it is not. This trainer's card is pretty much a stand-in for a generic reference sheet like you would see in OCTs. Please do not use any of the other themes if you choose to make the card separate from the above bullet.
---You may use the base card at spriter's resource if you need to for THIS deviation. Please credit.
---How you present their card is up to you! Please be as creative as possible for this! You do NOT have to draw it. (the magic of writing and imagination! : O) If you're stuck, I may be able to provide a free tip or two. These tips will be posted for everyone to see.
-------------> For writing, you may have them show someone their trainer card, which will include the below information, as well as a description of their appearance in the card. [ie- brown hair, blue eyes, pokemon got in the way of the photo and they're forever doomed with this bad picture...]
IT MUST INCLUDE:
---Their name
---birthdate (or current age if you do not have one made up),
---a Trainer ID # (if applicable, as not all characters are trainers. Assume that they were given one once when they participated in any region competitions)
---their appearance (either as text or a visual image)
---the earliest date possible for them to be considered a "trainer". This may be when they got their first badge, when they got their Pokedex, registered to be a trainer, or simply left on their journey. It all depends on your personal canon for their story. Please note that when they received their first Pokémon may not count as the same day that they became a trainer!
You may include any other information you would expect on a trainer card, but the above five items MUST be there!
I will do my best to post an example entry shortly.
FIRST ROUND'S DEADLINE: March 13th, 2012 11:59:59 PM PST
This is great news for those of you who live in a ~future~ timezone! However, I must have all entries submitted before this date. I will check on Tuesday morning, and if there are any entries that are late [ie- submitted after the deadline but before I check in the morning], it will be noted. You will still be allowed to enter, but it will count against your overall score.
I sincerely hope that this will give all of you enough time to post an entry and to help advertise it. Please comment if you are interested in joining, so that I know in advance how many entries to expect.
-Please send me a Note with the title "Contest Entry Round 1" and a link to the deviation. I will NOT accept any entries that are posted on my profile page or appear only in my deviation inbox. If it doesn't appear in my Notes inbox, it doesn't count. No exceptions.

THE THEMES These are the theme options for the other rounds. If you aren't sure if something would fit the theme, feel free to ask me! Most of the questions or ideas brought up are suggestions. If you are confused about any subject, I will do my best to clear it up! :3
Remember! The above first theme and the below last theme are requirements!
THE SECOND THEME
It's nice to Pikachu! Show us when your character met their first Pokémon. How you interpret this theme is up to you!
THE THIRD THEME
It's a Pokémon life for me! Show us a regular day in your character's life with their Pokémon. This could be something seemingly mundane, but yet still shows the bond between trainer and Pokémon. Alternatively, it could also be something exceedingly extreme, like breaking and entering.
THE FOURTH THEME
The first battle! Again, how you interpret this theme is up to you! (Some ideas: first friendly match, first experience through a simulation/card game/whatever, gym match, wild battle, etc)
THE FIFTH THEME
Pokémon training is hard to do! Not every Pokémon automatically accepts its trainer at first, and not every trainer is able to control their Pokémon. Show a time when the trainer and Pokémon are NOT in sync, and the trainer actually has to do some training!
THE SIXTH THEME
Winning! Show us an important victory for both trainer and Pokémon! This may be a contest, a battle, learning a TM/HM, or just overcoming personal obstacles.
THE SEVENTH THEME
So I herd u like… What is it that your trainer or their Pokémon like? How badly does he/she/it like it, and what happens when you give or take away this favored item? What if the trainer took what the Pokémon adored most, or vice versa?
THE EIGHTH THEME
A thug's life. Has your trainer ever has an encounter with any of the organizations in the Pokémon series? If so, what happened? If not, what about just a bad crowd or a biker gang?
THE NINTH THEME
Luvdisc make the world go round. How do trainer and Pokémon interact when the other one is in love? Has this affected either one's performance at a critical time? Did they only have a really nasty experience with Attract?
THE TENTH THEME
I'll be by your side. Show a time when the lives of your trainer and/or their Pokémon were in danger, and how they stood by each other.
THE ELEVENTH THEME
Friends forever: What would your trainer and their Pokémon look like when they're old? How do they interact, and what has happened to either Pokémon or trainer?
THE TWELFTH THEME
Pretty Pokémon: Please explore the idea of Pokémon contests with this theme! Did your trainer ever participate in a Contest, either by their choosing or were forced into it? Was the Pokémon forced into it, or did they force your trainer into it? Did either party enjoy dressing up, or enjoy watching the pretty contests? Is their Pokémon a natural-born priss, or the trainer?
THE THIRTEENTH THEME
Checking out the competition: Imagine that this is an actual competition taking place in the Pokémon world! Please look at some of the other entries, and reference at least TWO other people or works for this one. How would these characters interact? Would they interact? How would your character react to the other character(s) and their situation?
REQUIRED FOURTEENTH THEME:
A battle: You can not submit an entry used in any other theme for this one. All trainers have to battle at one point in their life. Please have your trainer put into a match with another entrant's character. Feel free to ask them whatever you need for your entry. This contest is all about spreading the love of Pokémon, and it would be great to see new bonds forged!
